Melanie White Bio

After graduating from Southern Methodist University with a BA in English/Creative Writing and a minor in Education, Melanie White received a Rotary International scholarship to study in New Zealand where she earned a BA Honors degree in English. After returning to the states, Melanie spent a semester studying Comedy and Screenplay writing at Emerson College in Boston. From there, she began writing comedy for a variety of comedians, including Yakov Smirnoff and Jay Leno. She also had her jokes published in such publications as Contemporary Comedy and Reader's Digest. Besides writing, Melanie has also had the chance to perform with an Improv comedy troupe where she learned many games and techniques that she currently uses to make her speaking presentations engaging and interactive.

In addition to her comedy writing and performing, Melanie has also used her writing skills in the business world. She has not only written corporate videos which aired on the Discovery Channel, but she has also had magazine articles published in both Today's Dallas Woman and Downtown Business News magazines. Along with her writing abilities, Melanie is also a certified teacher who has taught in both public and private high schools as well as for adults in various continuting education programs.

Melanie currently is a successful freelance writer, tutor, teacher, and professional speaker who is passionate about helping people learn. She believes that learning should be a fun experience and that students retain a lot more information when they are laughing and having a good time. Melanie is also passionate about helping businesses and individuals improve their written communications in order to achieve the success they want. A very entertaining speaker, Melanie invites her audiences to share in her presentations with numerous interactive exercises and Improv activities.
